South East Bermondsey parking study preliminary consultation

South East Bermondsey parking study preliminary consultation

Residents and businesses have told the council that the area around The Blue in Bermondsey has been subject to parking stress which is making it very difficult to park for residents, businesses and visitors, including shoppers*.

The council has met with traders to discuss on-street parking solutions to meet the needs of businesses and to compliment the Good Growth Fund, a £2M project currently underway to revive The Blue Business Improvement District (BID). Off-street parking at The Blue will be managed separately by the housing parking team alongside the Good Growth Fund.

The council is open to everyone’s views on the proposed parking zone, whether businesses, residents or visitors, car owners or not.

Preliminary design and consultation

Please refer to the proposed preliminary design and consultation information including key milestones and share your views via the online portal or paper questionnaire no later than 22 September 2019 .

Blue Anchor Library

Please pick up or view paper copies of the design, booklet and questionnaire at the Blue Anchor Library (open 9am to 7pm except Wednesdays and Sundays when the library is closed)

Meet the team on Saturday 14 September

To discuss the proposals and meet with the officers please come along to the South Bermondsey ward meeting 1pm 14 September 2019 at Rennie and Manor Estates Tenants Association Hall Galleywall Road SE16 3PB.

*It is worth noting that most visitors to The Blue are local –residents use the shops and services at the Blue as it is convenient and easy to access, with only 6% of visitors coming by car compared to 20% coming by bus, according to a 2015 study (link to report on our website www.southwark.gov.uk/sebermondseycpz).
