Improving Shuttleworth Park

Blue Bermondsey is supporting our local greening groups, who are at the forefront of many local initiatives to protect and preserve our precious green spaces and instigate more greening for the Blue.

Trees For Bermondsey have launched a crowdfunding appeal to raise £2000 by 31st of January 2022 which will be match funded by M&S. This is for a bold new initiative to improve Shuttleworth Park to better meet the needs of its users and become a more welcoming, nature-filled oasis.

The goal is to introduce blue and purple themed bee friendly plants, flowers with scented plants and shrubs to make this treasured green space come alive with colour and fragrance. The longer term aim is to refurbish the children’s play area, upgrade all furniture, railings and the water pump, as well as introduce new trees, and a native hedge around the perimeter to protect the park from noise and pollution.

Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated and will help improve and preserve Shuttleworth Park for future generations. Their most recent project

In December 2021 Trees For Bermondsey enlisted over 50 local volunteers to begin planting a new community orchard on the Rouel Road Estate as well as planting 400 new bulbs in Shuttleworth Park.
