223 Southwark Park Road New Business Opportunity in The Blue in Bermondsey

Southwark council has recently acquired the old Thorowgoods furniture store at 223 Southwark Park Road and their property team are busy making repairs to the building, which include significant roof works. Whilst this work goes on they are now starting the search for a commercial operator who can create a use for the building which brings as much footfall as possible to the town centre.

Location of the building
The building is located on Southwark Park Road, Blue Bermondsey’s high street, and adjacent to Market Place, home to The Blue Market. Bus routes P12, 1 and 381 have bus stops a few metres away on the opposite side of the building; all bus lines connect with Surrey Quays and Canada Water Station. South Bermondsey station is also nearby and Bermondsey underground station is approximately 15 minutes on foot. Revitalising The Blue
Made in Bermondsey is the name chosen for 2m regeneration programme to revitalise the Blue, which was once Bermondsey’s historic town centre.
A community campaign led by Blue Bermondsey BID with local charities Community Opportunity and Big Local Works was successful in securing the £2m capital funding from the Mayor of London’s LEAP Good Growth Fund after forward thinking staff at Southwark Council suggested a joint submission and helped to shape the application.
